Bollywood's politicians make it big this election season!

While the whole nation is awed by the clean sweep of BJP this season and Narendra Modi for Prime Minister, Bollywood is also celebrating the win of many fraternity members. Here are some Bollywood celebrities who contested for the elections. While most of them won, there were some who lost too. Here is the detailed report:

Kirron Kher (BJP) Vs Gul Panag (AAP)

BJP candidate Kirron Kher contested from Chandigarh opposite another B-town colleague Gul Panag (AAP). Kirron apparently won by a huge margin. Happy hubby Anupam Kher tweeted, "Congratulations @KirronKherBJP for winning the Chandigarh Parliamentary seat by a margin of more than 69000 votes. Jai Ho.:)"

Paresh Rawal (BJP)

Paresh Rawal contested from Ahmedabad in Gujarat and won! The Hera Pheri actor who is quite active on social media, tweeted, "This election saw its highest point & as well as lowest point.highest point was Modi getting full majority..& lowest was even KRK got ticket."

Rakhi Sawant (Rashtriya Aam Party)

We saw Rakhi Sawant don a politically correct Khadi suit and try to inspire the aam janta. Though she tried hard with the campaigning, Rakhi ended up with only a handful of votes (read 15-30). Needless to say, she lost.

Raj Babbar (Congress)

Like most candidates from Congress, Raj Babbar, who contested from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, witnessed a failure.

Jaya Pradha (RLD)

Jaya Pradha contested on behalf of the Rashtriya Lok Dal party from Uttar Pradesh. The yesteryear actress who has won many a time before, lost it this time.

Manoj Tiwari (BJP)

Manoj Tiwari, who rose to fame with his stint in the TV reality show Bigg Boss, won for BJP in Delhi.

Shatrughan Sinha (BJP)

Shatrughan Sinha won by a huge margin from his constituency in Patna. Proud daughter Sonakshi Sinha tweeted, "A BIG thank you to everyone who contributed to @ShatruganSinha's win in Patna Sahib today and BJP's win all over!"

Prakash Jha (Janata Dal)

Filmmaker and Janata Dal-United candidate Prakash Jha lost from the West Champaran Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar. He was defeated from the constituency for the third time. Jha lost to sitting BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal. He unsuccessfully contested as an Independent in 2004 and on a Lok Janshakti Party ticket in 2009 from the same constituency. Jha is known for his socio-political films like "Gangaajal", "Rajneeti" and "Satyagraha".

Hema Malini

"Dream Girl" Hema Malini, contesting on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, won easily. She tweeted, "Final count - I've won by a margin of 3 30 567 votes! The confidence & love shown by Brijwasis has me so humbled!"

Vinod Khanna (BIP)

Vinod Khanna retained Punjab's Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency and lead by over 9,979 votes over Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa.

Moon Moon Sen (Trinamool Congress)

Trinamool Congress nominee Ms. Sen triumphed by 97,511 votes over Mr Acharia, who has been winning from the seat without a break since 1980. Ms. Sen, daughter of Bengali screen legend Suchitra Sen, received 481,911 votes.

Bappi Lahiri (BJP)

The 'Gold' man Bappi Lahiri who was contesting on a BJP ticket lost in Bengal with 2, 33,214 votes.

Nagma (Congress)

The actress made it big in the South, with her acting career. However, she fared barely in the elections where she contested with a Congress ticket from Meerut. Nagma came fourth with a low number of votes in the range of 40, 000.

Mahesh Manjrekar (MNS)

The actor lost against Shivsena's Chandrakant Kirtikar in Mumbai North West with a total of 66, 020.
