In the democratic setup like ours, right to opinion is enjoyed by each and everyone. But when one speaks his or her mind on any social media, one needs to be ready for the backlash it would come with.
Neha Dhupia’s tweets about Mumbai rains and the present day government didn’t go down well with a few people. More than a few, to be noted! Neha tweeted, “Mumbaikars pls be warned traffic outside is terrible, roads r flooded the situation is getting worse by the minute. Step out only if u must!”

But her next tweet was, “One rain n the city comes to a standstill. Good governance is not about selfies n makin us do yoga,it's making sure ur citizens r safe.”

To this came severe backlash. Up for public scrutiny and discussion were Neha’s career moves, her being a flop actress, she doing this as a publicity stunt, abuses thrown her way, she being called dumb and stupid. Also sexist remarks were directed toward her.
A similar episode happened with actress Shruti Seth, when she made a remark about the selfie with daughter trend. Even she was bad-mouthed and she fell a victim to sexism. Her open letter was a befitting reply to all.
Let us know, what do you think?
